Dr Pourghadiri qualified as a dentist in 1991 at Guy’s Dental Hospital, University of London (now GKT Institute). Following hospital posts in restorative dentistry, oral & maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, and a year in general dental practice, he enrolled in a three-year full-time postgraduate orthodontic training programme at Guy’s Dental Hospital.
He became a specialist orthodontist in 1998 and achieved his Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal Colleges of England and Edinburgh. In the same year, he also obtained a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics from University of London.
Dr Pourghadiri has been practising orthodontics exclusively since 1995. He has published in the British Dental Journal and presented research at scientific meetings. He is a referee and reviewer for papers and books submitted to the European Journal of Orthodontics.
He is on the Specialist Register of the General Dental Council; is a member of the British, European and American Orthodontic Societies; and is a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists.
Dr Pourghadiri’s wife, Dr Noushin Attari, is a specialist paediatric dentist at Weymouth Street Paediatric Dental Care.
