Prevention & Maintenance Programmes

Good oral hygiene is extremely important when patients are considering orthodontic treatment.

This is especially true when fixed braces are worn. The additional components in the mouth make it difficult to clean the teeth and gums. Indeed, slightly different techniques for cleaning teeth may be necessary.

We are fortunate to have in-house Dental Hygienists who we can recommend should the need arise for any patients. They will be able to create customized oral hygiene programs with specific oral hygiene aids (we can provide these) to facilitate better cleaning in every patient.

You should also continue to see the hygienists at your own general dental practice for professional cleaning. We are happy to liaise with them on any treatment we may be carrying out.

Regular check-ups with your dentists and visits to a dental hygienist can help keep dental disease away and establish good cleaning habits for the future.
